Best Twitter Hashtags for Book Promotion

The great thing about Twitter is that you don’t necessarily have to have a lot of followers to be seen. You can have ten followers, but if you use a hashtag like #horror or #sciencefiction, many other people will see the post as well, as there are a lot more visitors to hashtag pages than individual accounts.

However, having more followers means that your post has a better chance to land on the Top list, which is the first list users see, and where the post will show up for longer, as opposed to the Latest thread, where your post may scroll off quite quickly, depending on the popularity of the hashtag. To reach the Top list, you need to get clicks, likes, and retweets, which is more likely if you have a lot of followers, though it’s certainly possible using hashtags alone.

Top Twitter List

This won’t be a post about all the Twitter hashtags writers can use, as there are comprehensive posts about general hashtags for authors. Those hashtags can be great for connecting with other writers and gaining followers, but not always useful for promoting a book. Instead, this post is specifically about use hashtags for book promotion.

Tip: though most of these hashtags are Twitter-specific, you can use hashtags on other social media, such as Google+ and Pinterest.
