Chick Lit is a subgenre of Women’s Fiction where books are mainly written by women for women. The main characters can range in age from their 20’s to their 60’s. Many are written from the first-person narrative viewpoint in a light and humorous tone. The plots usually consist of women experiencing life issues in matters of: love, marriage, relationships, personal struggles, careers and the work force, addictions, and so much more. In the Chick Lit genre, romance is an important element, though not exclusive of friendships and family.
