Chick Lit is a subgenre of Women’s Fiction where books are mainly written by women for women. The main characters can range in age from their 20′s to their 60′s. Many are written from the first-person narrative viewpoint in a light and humorous tone. The plots usually consist of women experiencing life issues in matters of: love, marriage, relationships, personal struggles, careers and the work force, addictions, and so much more. In the Chick Lit genre, romance is an important element, though not exclusive of friendships and family.
I found this such a nerve wracking prospect, I spent a long time writing and with such effort gone into the creation of my book I wanted a designer who would appreciate this. After trawling the many designers out […]
Cover art is something about which I’m curious. I’m working on my first novel, and I appreciate the comments so far .
Looking forward to chatting with you all in the future.
I love book design. I’ve done chic-lit, thriller, non-fiction, crime, fantasy, paranormal…
I do my best to create beautiful work to lift the negative perception of self-publishing. I work exclusively with […]

This is also something I’ve noticed, I’ve also reviewed many self published artist and I agree that their book covers are a tad fad.
And I wish they would change that, because I do believe that what is outside does entice us to buy or not to buy. Well it does for me. anyway.

My designer, Gaelynn Larrick, of Ashland, Oregon, found and photographed the models in addition to designing the cover. I was really happy with it — if you want to check it out, go [...]
I had a pleasure of working with a grad school friend for the photography, and then a great graphic designer (also art photographer) for the layout. The grad school friend was more of the devoted amateur/student hire– she had just done some food photography training. The graphic designer I connected with via a friend, and [...]
The saying “you can’t judge a book by its cover” is a big fat lie. I’m a graphic and web designer by day, and the psychology behind what seems like a simple collection of shapes and colours has a huge impact on a person’s buying choice. Quality on the outside instantly suggests quality on the [...]
