The main characters can range in age from their 20′s to their 60′s. Many are written from the first-person narrative viewpoint in a light and humorous tone. The plots usually consist of women experiencing life issues in matters of: love, marriage, relationships, personal struggles, careers and the work force, addictions, and so much more. In the Chick Lit genre, romance is an important element, though not exclusive of friendships and family.
