    I read all the abd reviews about author house and having not found this site before I felt I had no choice but to use them if I wanted my hand holding- just slightly. I must say for me they were faultless (until now) They do charge many extras so your best bet was to decide what you want before hand and make them include it in the deal. I think I got a pretty good deal which included a full edit- but then it was my first book so I could be mistaken.

    They made changes as and when I needed promptly and efficently and did exactly what I wanted- I knew what I wanted including cover design. The distribution is also great selling in lots of countries using outlets such as Flipkart- so friend in India could buy copies of my book etc. My only issue is that now it is quite difficult to get in touch with them regarding the five free books that were dispatched to me but never arrived. The books I have paid for arrived very promptly. I will keep on at them till I get those books but now after the process is over I can see why some people have been annoyed.

    I justed used CreateSpace and generally have had a favorable experience. A couple of minor issues:

    1) I had them write a press release. It was not well written. I basically ended up re-writing it prior to release.

    2) International distribution is being stickier than I had thought. I can’t seem to get listed in the UK. (LSI says not available for int’l distribution; CreateSpace says not out problem.)

    3) I was willing to pay for Kindle conversion, until they more than triple the price at the conversion stage due to the slightly larger page size of my book (9.69″ by 7.44″)/

    Otherwise, I’ve found the system easy to work with, replies prompt, and staff knowledgable (except in terms in the UK issue…). I’ve also found their extensive forum to be very helpful as I learn more about marketing.

    Yes! I believe so, paper is the GOLD. Somehow, paper is one thing for sure that make sense on everything. Every time we plan to write, it works with the papers then.

    There are many ways to bring your book to market and one way does not necessarily exclude another.
    Many of our authors will set up an account with someone like CreateSpace but also have a website to sell books directly. For the books they sell themselves the find that wholesale book printers like http://www.americas-press.com are best so they can keep a small inventory of high quality books on hand. These would be the books they would take to book signings, speaking events, etc.
