About

The Stonewall Inn Raid and Riots of June 28, 1969 were the results of constant raids and arrests at a gay dancing bar in Greenwich Village, New York. The underground bar, located at 53 Christopher, was run by the Mafia where watered down drinks were sold to downtrodden homosexuals and members of the LGBT communities. On this night, the gay patrons resisted the assualts and arrests of the New York Police, and a riot broke out that prompted the Police to take cover inside the bar until back-up arrived. This was the beginning of the Gay Revolution which had a Domino-effect around the world.Time Magazine asserted the Stonewall raid and resistance to be one of the ten most influential protests of the Century.
