I have written 4 fantasy novels, The Rys Chronicles series, and I am hard at work at another fantasy quartet. I produce my work through my company Falbe Publishing and its fantasy imprint Brave Luck Books (TM). In addition to fiction writing, I also write nonfiction and publish several websites that bring in advertising revenue. Ever since I was a child I always knew that I wanted to write novels. Before becoming a publisher, I queried agents and publishers, but if you think selling one book is hard, try pitching a 4-part series. I have no regrets about self publishing. I love my business. Make a little money, and hope to make more as the years go on. Being able to reach readers around the world and gain their positive feedback is very gratifying. I wish that I could write faster because the readers that genuinely connect with my work always ask for more. Being a publisher allows me to combine my writing, which is a labor of love, with business. I come from a family of business people and always wanted my own. Admittedly publishing is a difficult business, but I know it’s the right fit for me. To market my fiction, I take the approach of giving away the first novel in the series as a free fantasy ebook, and then people who like my work tend to come back and buy the rest. |
