A Beautiful Morning by Ashley Ellington Brown

A Beautiful Morning: How a Morning Ritual Can Feed Your Soul and Transform Your Life is an inspiring and practical guidebook about the most important moment of the day – the morning – which can establish a person’s mood and sense of well-being for the rest of the day.

Author Ashley Ellington Brown was inspired to create this guidebook through an insight that spontaneously occurred to her as she was in the midst of her newly instituted morning ritual – “basking in sunshine and birdsong.” She decided to contact women whose work she admires – life coaches, authors, teachers, and […]

Review: Coffee Shop University by Mario Kfoury

Coffee Shop University

Mario Kfoury’s debut work of nonfiction, Coffee Shop University, is a thought-provoking exploration of spiritual, philosophical, and intellectual self-discovery.

Divided into three parts, the book chronicles the arrival of the author in the U.S. in 1987 from war-torn Lebanon. Settling in Los Angeles, he and his friend, Elrob, quickly embraced the bodybuilding culture of southern California while working as security officers. It’s during this time that Kfoury attended a meeting of Native Americans where he was introduced to a spiritual smudging ceremony, which subsequently inspired him to read extensively on Hinduism, Buddhism and Taoism, among others.

The second part […]

Review: Clear Quiet Mind: Four Simple Steps to Deep Inner Peace by Kevin Schoeninger

Clear Quiet Mind: Four Simple Steps to Deep Inner Peace

In Clear Quiet Mind: Four Simple Steps to Deep Inner Peace, author Kevin Schoeninger provides techniques for relaxation, overcoming negativity, and welcoming new opportunities in life.

A life coach and personal trainer, Schoeninger brings an impressive degree of expertise and experience to the book, which helps elevate it over self-help books of its kind, as the book feels in part like undertaking one of his personal training sessions. As such, the book isn’t so much “self”-help, as a book with a guide.

The book definitely has a spiritual perspective, so it is best suited to those readers who come […]

There’s no year…Would we want a calendar?
There’s no finish line…Would we stop bustling?

Each piece in the collection speaks of gritty human experience, sensual and violent, poignant and unexpected, […]
