Suzanne BoisvertSuzanne grew up in Richardson Texas with her sister and two brothers. She learned from her parents that everyone can make their dreams become reality, and that life is a combination of luck and skill. She began to dream big at a young age and feels extremely lucky in this life being the mom of four incredible children.

Immediately after graduating from high school, Suzanne was discovered and left for Paris to pursue her modeling career. She traveled around the world living in Tokyo and Milan, and then ultimately moving to London with her former husband. After eleven years in England, Suzanne moved to Santa Barbara where she lives with her husband, Phil, her best friend and inspiration.

Through the years, Suzanne created Boisvert Lingerie, Avia Spa, and became a DJ. The story that has haunted her since she was a young girl has found its way out and into her first novel which is the first of a trilogy. The amazing support from her family and friends helped her realize her dream and she is very grateful for this opportunity to self publish.

When Suzanne isn’t writing, she’s enjoying time with her family, their three dogs and traveling. She’s also an avid soccer player and feels very lucky to play on a co-ed team with her husband, and on her awesome women’s team, The Cosmos.

Why did you want to write a book?

I have had parts of this story in my head since I was a child and it has evolved over the years so I needed to finally get it out and into a book.

The Awakening: Fate in Motion by Suzanne BoisvertWhy did you choose to self-publish?

I realized that self-publishing has become much easier with KDP and Amazon and I also loved the idea of getting my story out now rather than waiting for an agent and publisher which can take quite some time. There are also many Indie book stores across the US that take Indie books on consignment which is great for self-published authors.

Would you self-publish again?

Yes.

What do you think are the main pitfalls for indie writers?

Figuring out how to market it and keep the momentum going for sales.

What tips can you give other authors looking to self-publish?

There are many ways to market your book now through social media and very reasonably priced options as well for advertising on FB and Google. Also, Fiverr has some good marketing people that have helped my sales.

What was your steepest learning curve during the publishing process?

Trying to get an agent to be interested in the book just from a query letter is very frustrating and can be depressing at times. Self-publishing gave me my confidence back.

As a writer, what is your schedule? How do you get the job done?

I write in journals whenever the visual comes into my head and then I piece it all together so I write at all different times. Sometimes it’s at 3am when I just dreamt something that fits in the story.

How do you deal with writer’s block?

I go running, swimming or walk on the beach and my creativity flows better.

Tell us about the genre you wrote in, and why you chose to write this sort of book.

Science fiction because I have been obsessed with the idea that aliens might have been involved in our evolution since I was a child so it was a natural choice for my first book.

How do your friends and family get involved with your writing? What do they think of your book?

They read my book before I published it and gave me great feedback and they really love my story so that helped me have the courage to self-publish.

What are your plans now your book is published?

Writing book 2 is my next plan.
