Life Discarded is the third book by D.E. Haggerty. Morgan, a thirty-something Midwestern librarian, marries Daniel, a handsome, successful accountant in a fairytale ceremony and feels certain she has finally got the life she could only dream of. But even before the wedding night has finished, Daniel’s friend, hunky fireman Eric makes her nervous about her choice of husband. Only a short time into their marriage, Daniel starts acting possessive and aggressive, meaning Morgan starts to re-evaluate her priorities — and her own safety– until a sinister truth about Daniel is discovered, leaving Morgan devastated and in no doubt that she must give up everything and destroy all connections to her husband to once again gain control of her life and her happiness.
This is a chick-lit crime thriller with all the trimmings, and author D.E.Haggerty knows how to reel in her reader with well-crafted characters and relationships before dishing the action a little at a time. Those who enjoy a solid female cast with intelligence and attitude, and not to mention some seriously dark and sexy menfolk will enjoy this rollicking domestic drama with a twist.
