Fatal Decision is a thriller and suspense novel with a strong female protagonist at the helm. Sam Harker is a ruthless assassin with a unique motivation which makes her instantly sympathetic to a vast majority of readers, both male and female. While my plot line is perhaps not entirely unique – an operative seeking vengeance against the organization who betrayed/used them – Sam’s story is guaranteed to pull at your heart strings.

Why did you want to write a book?

I’ve been an avid readers ever since I was a kid. I’ve authored numerous short stories for friends and family to enjoy. This year I decided I wanted to take a crack at writing something the world would enjoy.

Why did you choose to self-publish?

I considered a lot of different options for bringing Fatal Decision into the world. Ultimately I found the self-publishing route to be my best option. Yes it required a lot of up front costs on my part. However the feeling of creating and crafting your story from beginning to end without being told I needed to change this or that to make it “better” or “more marketable” was what made the decision for me. Is Fatal Decision a book for everyone? No it is not. But if someone is looking for a good thriller based book with its own unique twists I believe Fatal Decision stacks up well against the competition.

Fatal Decision by T.K. WolfWhat tools or companies did you use, and what experience did you have?

I used BookCoverArt for my cover design. Ivan did an absolutely amazing job with putting together an attractive cover. For my editing and formatting I spent quite a lot of time on Fiverr tracking down vendors who could do a proper job and I will be using those same services again in the future.

Would you self-publish again?

Yes. As part of this process I set-up my own publishing imprint, WolfPrint Publishing, and plan on releasing anywhere from 1 to 4 books a year going forward.

What do you think are the main pitfalls for indie writers?

I think the biggest pitfall is the financial investment to ensure things are done properly. Editing services are not cheap. Neither is cover art or marketing. The rewards though are worth it.

What tips can you give other authors looking to self-publish?

This can be a very expensive process. Both monetarily and with your free time. My advice: Take your time. Make sure to do your research. Save up to ensure you can pay for appropriate services. For your own sake don’t do it fast or cheap, do it right.

As a writer, what is your schedule? How do you get the job done?

I try to write for at least an hour every morning after work and then an hour before I go into work. My daily word count goal is around 1500. Most days I can get that done easily. Others I’m lucky to get 500 out. But I make it a point to write something every day to keep in that habit. Good habits breed success.

Review: Fatal Decision by T.K. Wolf

How do you deal with writer’s block?

I open up a fresh word document and let my mind wander. Sometimes I will work on another aspect of the story. Other times I will jot down ideas for other books I would like to write in the future. Sometimes it helps, other times not but I make it a point to never let myself get discouraged.

What’s next for you as an author?

Build my brand and fanbase. Turn this from a passionate hobby into a business for myself.
